Big head bunny amigurumi:
Note: This is a baby soft toy so I decided to pick “no choking hazards – no safety eyes or nose”. The suggested hook size for this yarn type is 4,5mm crochet hook but I picked a little bigger one – 5mm to make looser stitches and softer crocheted toy. Consider your gauge/ stitch’s tension to choose the best hook size that matches.

Bunny baby hat:
Note: This hat is 16” head circumference in size. I used chainless starting dc for every first dc of each round instead of ch 3. There’s another good crochet technique to use is ch 2, dc into same stitch ( counted as 1st dc). In the pattern below you’ll see I simply state dc for every first dc of each round, so just choose your best technique 🙂

Hat: using color A and B yarn
R1: form a magic ring, 10 dc, 10 sts
R2: ( inc dc, inc fpdc) x 5 times, sl into 1st st to join, total 20 sts
R3: (dc, inc dc, fpdc, inc fpdc) x 5 times, sl into 1st st to join, total 30 sts
R4: (2 dc, inc dc, 2 fpdc, inc fpdc) x 5 times, sl into 1st st to join, total 40 sts
R5: (3 dc, inc dc, 3 fpdc, inc fpdc) x 5 times, sl into 1st st to join, total 50 sts
R6 to 8: (5 dc, 5 fpdc) x 5 times, sl into 1st st to join, total 50 sts
R9: change to color B yarn, hdc around, 50 sts
R10 to 13: hdc around, 50 sts (fasten off, weave in ends)

Earflaps: using color A and B yarn
Choose your best position for earflaps, crochet 1st one where your hat left off and 2nd one on the opposite side.
Start with color A yarn

R2: 10 dc, turn
R3: 10 dc, turn

Awesome, thank you. That chart is super useful. I’ll put it an pic on ravelry when I’m finished. I’ve never made a hat before, so hopefully it works out! I ordered the yarn today, so I’ll be able to start it over the weekend 😡

This is super cute! I want to make the hat for my friend’s newborn but I actually don’t know how big newborn heads are, haha. Do you know what size hat this would make in terms of baby age?
