Put your precious jewelry in this crochet heart ring box, show off the perfect and unique crafting love especially when giving it as a gift.
6mm and 3mm crochet hooks
Yarn of your favourite colors (chunky yarn for the box, worsted or light weight yarn for other details)
Hot glue gun
Button or bead
Note: This pattern can be crocheted with any size of crochet hook ( at least 6mm crochet hook size for the box ), just choose a yarn type that matches your hook.
Start with chunky yarn and 6mm crochet hook. (Just choose a hook size and type of yarn that can help you to crochet tight stitches ‘coz it is a container) (crochet 2 pieces)
R1: magic ring, ch 2 (as 1st dc), crochet 10 dc into the ring, total 11 dc (pull ring close, sl into first st to join, ch 1)
R2: 1 hdc and 1 dc into 1st st, 3 tc into next st, 2 dc into next st, 1 dc and 1 hdc into next st, 2 hdc into next st, 1 dc into next st (you have just finished half of the heart now)
Go counter-clockwise: 2 hdc into next st, 1 hdc and 1 dc into next st, 2 dc into next st, 3 tc into next st, 1 dc and 1 hdc into last st, total 23 sts (sl into first st to join, ch 1)
R3: work with back loops only, hdc around, 23 sts (fasten off)
Make the foam rubber with 3 mm crochet hook and light weight yarn. Crochet a chain of 45 to 50, dc into 3rd st from the hook, dc across (fasten off)
Roll it up and put into the box, you can add a little glue at the bottom to have it secure.
Sew 2 pieces of heart together, sew a bead or button on the middle of the box.
Lid and buttonhole:
With 3mm crochet hook and light weight yarn, crochet 2 sc into every front loop of the lid, when you reach the middle of the lid, make a chain of 12 (this is optional, depend on the size of the button or bead you used, just make sure it’s fit), then continue to crochet 2 sc into every front loop ’till end (fasten off)
You have just finished the fringe and lock for your ring box.
Add more decoration as you want. My long lost beaded butterfly finally has its own place, right behind the box (lol)
Any guy would try to make this for a very special one? 😀
Happy crocheting xD
