This crochet Christmas baby pixie hat is a free size pattern, with holiday colors and a cute pom pom on top, it would be a great photo prop. Choose other colors for a less holiday theme, and it is good to wear all year round.

Materials: (I used)
5mm crochet hook
Light weight/DK yarn: green, red, white (X’mas theme)
Scissors
Yarn needle
Note: The crochet Christmas baby pixie hat pattern is for 3 to 6 months babies but this one is a free size pattern. So you can always adjust the size by decreasing or increasing the foundation chain and the length of hat.
Skill level: Intermediate
Special stitch used: side puffs stitch, instruction here: http://newstitchaday.com/how-to-crochet-the-side-puffs-stitch/
Pattern:
Hat: Start with a foundation chain of 53, hdc into 2nd chain from hook, hdc across.
R1: turn, ch 2, dc into the same stitch, dc across
(I used this technique because I don’t like the gap when you crochet ch 3 as 1st dc for every turn)
R2: turn, ch 2, dc into the same stitch, skip 1 st, (1dc in next st, side puff over the dc just made, skip 1 st) repeat ’till end, 1dc in last st.
R3: turn, ch 1, hdc into same stitch, hdc across.
Repeat 4 times from R1 to R3 ( total 12 rounds )
Crochet last round ( R13 ) with dc across ( fasten off )
Strap: used white yarn
Make a chain of your length.
Hdc into 2nd chain from hook, hdc across, at last chain make 2 hdc into it, continue with the other side of the chain, hdc across. (fasten off)
Seam the back with sc (wrong side)
Optional: hdc acround the bottom border of the hat for a smooth look.
Use sc to attach strap to hat (wrong side). Attach a little pom pom on top.
Cutie X’mas style xD
Happy crocheting xD
