Crochet Festive fringe tank

Still time for fun beach days! Celebrate your moment with this festival tank top – tropical color theme, shimmering self-striping yarn, and flirty fringe.

It’s such a fast and easy crochet tank top to try. Simple V stitch, the shaped neckline, and armholes make this look fit on any size.

Materials: ( I used )
5 mm crochet hook
Light weight/ DK yarn: self-striping ( about 150 gr for the sample – size L/ 100 gr or 393 yds per skein )

Abbreviations

Note: I used chainless starting dc for every first dc of each row/ round instead of ch 3. There’s another good crochet technique to use is ch 2, dc into the same stitch ( counted as 1st dc). In the pattern below you’ll see I simply state dc into 1st stitch for every first dc of each row/round, so just choose your best technique 🙂

Special stitches used:

V stitch: ( dc, ch1, dc ) into same stitch or space.

Skill level: Intermediate

Gauge: 8 double crochet stitches x 4 rows approximately 2 inches ( with materials indicated )


Tank top:

Back piece:

R1: ch 79, dc into 2nd chain from hook ( the first 2 chain doesn’t count as 1st dc ), 77 dc across, turn.

R2: dc, skip 1 st, V-stitch into next st, ( skip 2 sts, V-stitch into next st ) x 24 times across, skip 1 st, dc into last st, turn.

R3: dc, ( V-stitch into next ch1-space ) x 25 times across, dc into last st, turn.

R4 to R7: same as R3

R8: same as R3 ( fasten off )

R9: skip 1 dc and 1 V-stitch, insert hook into next st, make 1 dc, skip next ch1-space and next 2 sts, ( V-stitch into next ch1-space ) x 21 times across, skip 2 sts and next ch1-space, dc into next st, turn.

R10: dc, skip 1 V-stitch, ( V-stitch into next ch1-space ) x 19 times across, skip 1 V-stitch, dc into last st, turn.

R11: dc, skip next st, dc into next ch1-space, skip next 2 sts, ( V-stitch into next ch1-space ) x 17 times across, skip next 2 sts, dc into next ch1-space, skip next st, dc into last st, turn.

R12: dc, skip next 2 sts, ( V-stitch into next ch1-space ) x 17 times across, skip next 2 sts, dc into last st, turn.

R13: dc, ( V-stitch into next ch1-space ) x 17 times across, dc into last st, turn.

R14 to R24: same as R13.

R25: dc, ( V-stitch into next ch1-space ) x 3 times across, skip next 2 sts, dc into next ch1-space, skip 1 st, dc into next st, turn.

R26: dc, skip next 2 sts, ( V-stitch into next ch1-space ) x 3 times across, dc into last st. ( fasten off )

Repeat R25 and R26 on the other side of the shoulder. ( fasten off )

 

Front piece:

R12: dc, skip next 2 sts, ( V-stitch into next ch1-space ) x 17 times across, skip next 2 sts, dc into last st, turn.

R13: dc, ( V-stitch into next ch1-space ) x 17 times across, dc into last st, turn.

R14 to R18: same as R13.

R19: dc, ( V-stitch into next ch1-space ) x 3 times across, skip next 2 sts, dc into next ch1-space, skip 1 st, dc into next st, turn.

R20: dc, skip next 2 sts, ( V-stitch into next ch1-space ) x 3 times across, dc into last st, turn.

R21: dc, ( V-stitch into next ch1-space ) x 3 times across, dc into last st, turn.

R22 to R26: same as R21 ( fasten off )

Repeat R19 and R26 on the other side of the shoulder. ( fasten off )

  • Seam shoulder lines with sc or sl
  • Seam body lines with sc or sl

Fringe: cut strands of yarn ( about 1m / length is your own choice ), and use cow hitch knots to tie around the hemline.

Cord: crochet a chain, and attach beads to both ends. Thread around R1 of the tank top.
