5mm crochet hook
Worsted weight yarn: brown and cream colors ( 200 gr for the sample – size L/ 100 gr or 256 yds per skein )

Note: I used chainless starting dc for every first dc of each row/round instead of ch 3. There’s another good crochet technique to use is ch 2, dc into the same stitch ( counted as 1st dc). In the pattern below you’ll see I simply state dc into 1st stitch for every first dc of each row/round, so just choose your best technique 🙂
This crochet oversized crop top with fringes is done by 2 identical front and back parts, seam to join shoulder and body lines. The fringes are optional.

Gauge: 8 double crochet stitches x 4 rows = approximately 2 inches ( with materials indicated )

Start with color A yarn,
R1: ch133, dc into 3rd chain from hook ( first 2 chain doesn’t count as 1st dc ), * ch4, skip 4 chains, dc into next chain * repeat ** 25 times across, ch4, dc into the last chain, turn.
R2: ( dc, ch1, dc ) into 1st stitch, * skip ch4- space, ( dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc ) into next stitch * repeat ** 25 times across, skip ch4-space, ( dc, ch1, dc ) into last stitch, turn.
R3: dc into 1st stitch, * ch4, skip (ch1, dc, dc, ch1), dc into next stitch * repeat ** 25 times across, ch4, dc into last stitch, turn.
R4: ( dc, ch1, dc ) into 1st stitch, * skip ch4- space, ( dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc ) into next stitch * repeat ** 25 times across, skip ch4-space, ( dc, ch1, dc ) into last stitch, turn.
R5: change to color B yarn, dc into 1st stitch, * ch4, skip (ch1, dc, dc, ch1), dc into next stitch * repeat ** 25 times across, ch4, dc into the last stitch, turn.
R6: ( dc, ch1, dc ) into 1st stitch, * skip ch4- space, ( dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc ) into next stitch * repeat ** 25 times across, skip ch4-space, ( dc, ch1, dc ) into last stitch, turn.
R7: dc into 1st stitch, * ch4, skip (ch1, dc, dc, ch1), dc into next stitch * repeat ** 25 times across, ch4, dc into last stitch, turn.
R8: ( dc, ch1, dc ) into 1st stitch, * skip ch4- space, ( dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc ) into next stitch * repeat ** 25 times across, skip ch4-space, ( dc, ch1, dc ) into last stitch, turn.
R9: change to color A yarn, dc into 1st stitch, * ch4, skip (ch1, dc, dc, ch1), dc into next stitch * repeat ** 25 times across, ch4, dc into the last stitch, turn.
R10: ( dc, ch1, dc ) into 1st stitch, * skip ch4- space, ( dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc ) into next stitch * repeat ** 25 times across, skip ch4-space, ( dc, ch1, dc ) into last stitch, turn.
R11: dc into 1st stitch, * ch4, skip (ch1, dc, dc, ch1), dc into next stitch * repeat ** 25 times across, ch4, dc into last stitch, turn.
R12: ( dc, ch1, dc ) into 1st stitch, * skip ch4- space, ( dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc ) into next stitch * repeat ** 25 times across, skip ch4-space, ( dc, ch1, dc ) into last stitch, turn.
Repeat (from R5 to R12) one more time until you reach R20
R21 to R24: same as R5 to R8 ( fasten off )
Put front and back parts together, from the wrong side, seam shoulder line with sc ( about 34 sts each side )
Seam body line with sc ( 9 rows from the bottom up )
Cut strands of yarn to make fringes. Use cow hitch knots to tie around the hemline.
