Crochet angel heart mandala

This is the mandala version of my Angel heart crochet designs. The mandala is made in red, pink, and purple colors theme. It features a winged heart at the center and is accented by 12 hearts around.

Materials: ( I used )
5mm crochet hook
Worsted weight yarn: 100% acrylic ( red, white, purple, pink… )
Yarn needle
Scissors

Abbreviations

Note: I used chainless starting dc for every first dc of each row/ round instead of ch 3. There’s another good crochet technique to use is ch 2, dc into the same stitch ( counted as 1st dc). In the pattern below you’ll see I simply state dc into 1st stitch for every first dc of each row/round, so just choose your best technique 🙂

You can use any hook size for this crochet Angel heart mandala pattern, just choose a yarn type that matches.

The sample mandala is approximately 14 inches in diameter.

Special stitches used:

5dc-shell stitch: 5dc into the same stitch or space.

Skill level: Intermediate

Heart: using red yarn

Mandala:

Flip the heart, you’ll see the back-loops. Crochet from the front side of the heart.

R1: with pink yarn, insert a hook into any back loop from the last st of R1 ( the heart part). Crochet 2 dc into every loop, sl into first st to join, total 24 sts.

R2: ( inc dc, dc into next st ) x 12 times around, total 36 sts, sl into first st to join.

R3: ( inc dc, dc into next st, fpdc around next st ) x 12 times around, total 48 sts, sl into first st to join.

R4: ( inc dc, 3 dc across ) x 12 times around, total 60 sts, sl into first st to join.

R5: change to red yarn, ( 4 sc across, 2 fptr around next fpdc of R3 ) x 12 times around, total 72 sts, sl into first st to join.

R6: ( 5 dc across, ch1, dc into next st ) x 12 times around, sl into first st to join.

R7: change to dark red yarn, ( inc sc, 3 sc across, fptr around next fptr of R5, sc into next ch1-space, fptr around next fptr of R5 ) x 12 times around, sl into first st to join.

R8: ( 6 dc across, ch2, dc into next st ) x 12 times around, sl into first st to join.

R9: change to dark purple yarn, ( inc sc, 4 sc across, fptr around next fptr of R7, 2 sc into next ch2-space, fptr around next fptr of R7 ) x 12 times around, sl into first st to join.

R10: ( 7 dc across, ch3, dc into next st ) x 12 times around, sl into first st to join.

R11: change to violet yarn, ( inc sc, 5 sc across, fptr around next fptr of R9, 3 sc into next ch3-space, fptr around next fptr of R9 ) x 12 times around, sl into first st to join.

R12: ( 8 dc across, ch4, dc into next st ) x 12 times around, sl into first st to join.

R13: change to pink yarn, ( inc sc, 6 sc across, fptr around next fptr of R11, 4 sc into next ch4-space, fptr around next fptr of R11 ) x 12 times around, sl into first st to join.

R14: ( 9 dc across, ch5, dc into next st ) x 12 times around, sl into first st to join.

R15: change to red yarn, ( inc sc, 7 sc across, fptr around next fptr of R13, 5 sc into next ch5-space, fptr around next fptr of R13 ) x 12 times around, sl into first st to join.

R16: ( 10 dc across, skip 2 sts, 5dc-shell stitch into next st, skip 2sts, dc into next st ) x 12 times around, sl into first st to join.

R17: * 10 sc across, ( sc, hdc ) into next st, ( dc, tr, dc ) into next st, hdc into next st, ( dc, tr, dc ) into next st, ( hdc, sc ) into next st, sc into next st * repeat ** 12 times around, sl into first st to join. ( fasten off, weave in ends )
