Crochet Candy line baby blanket

Another simple design added to my baby blanket collection. This crochet candy line baby blanket is made by multi-color cakes yarn, ribbed texture and simple crochet stitches. So it is a quick and easy crochet project for a cute gift.

Materials: ( I used )
5mm crochet hook
Light weight/DK yarn: self-striping cakes and white yarn ( about 400 gr for the sample/ 150 gr or 349 yds per skein )

Abbreviations

Note: I used chainless starting dc for every first dc of each round instead of ch 3. There’s another good crochet technique to use is ch 2, dc into same stitch ( counted as 1st dc ). In the pattern below you’ll see I simply state dc for every first dc of each round, so just choose your best technique 🙂

  • You can use any hook size for this crochet candy line baby blanket pattern, just choose a yarn type that matches.
  • The pattern is a multiple of 4+3 ( just in case you want to make a different size afghan )
  • Finished crochet project: 30 x 30 inches ( stroller size )

Special stitch used:

V stitch: ( dc, ch1, dc ) into same stitch or space.

Picot stitch: ( sc, ch3, sc ) into same stitch or space

Pattern:

Blanket: using self-striping cakes yarn

R1: ch 115, dc into 3rd ch from hook ( first 2 ch doesn’t count as 1st dc ), *skip 1 ch, V stitch into next ch, skip 1 ch, dc into next ch* repeat ** 27 times across, skip 1 ch, V stitch into next ch, skip 1 ch, dc into last ch, turn.

R2: dc into 1st stitch, *skip 1 stitch, V stitch into next ch1-space, skip 1 stitch, fpdc around next st* repeat ** 27 times across, skip 1 stitch, V stitch into next ch1-space, skip 1 stitch, dc into last st, turn.

R3: dc into 1st stitch, *skip 1 stitch, V stitch into next ch1-space, skip 1 stitch, bpdc around next st* repeat ** 27 times across, skip 1 stitch, V stitch into next ch1-space, skip 1 stitch, dc into last st, turn.

Repeat R2 and R3 alternately untill you reach R56 ( fasten off )

Edging: using white color yarn

R1: Insert hook and join into one corner ( make 3 dc into each corner ) of the blanket, dc around ( make 2 dc into each dc vertical bar ), sl into 1st stitch to join.

R2: ( 1 picot stitch, skip next st ) repeat around ( fasten off, weave in ends )
