Don’t worry if you are not into coffee, just choose a different color for your project. This short vest is crocheted with simple double crochet stitches with shaped armholes, neckline, and shoulder slope to create a flattering and perfect fit outerwear.

Materials: ( I used )
6 mm crochet hook
Chunky weight yarn: pure wool- cream, brown shades (200 gr/ 4 skeins for the sample – size S&M/ 50 gr or 50m per skein)

Note: I used chainless starting dc for every first dc of each round/row instead of ch 3. There’s another good crochet technique to use is ch 2, dc into the same stitch ( counted as 1st dc). In the pattern below you’ll see I simply state dc into 1st stitch for every first dc of each round/row, so choose your best technique 🙂
This crochet Latte short vest fits size S/M ( chest size: 30 to 34 inches )
Skill level: Easy
Gauge: 6 double crochet sts x 3 rows = 2 inches ( with materials indicated )
Vest:
Back part:
R1: Ch 47, dc into 3rd chain from hook ( first 2 ch doesn’t count as the first dc ), 45 dc across, turn.
R2: 45 dc across, turn.
R3 to R9: same as R2.
R10: 45 dc across ( fasten off )
R11: Skip 4 sts, insert hook into next st, dc, (dec dc) x 2 times, 27 dc across, (dec dc) x 2 times, dc, turn.
R12: dc, (dec dc) x 2 times, 23 dc across, (dec dc) x 2 times, dc, turn.
R13: dc, dec dc, 23 dc across, dec dc, dc, turn.
R14: 27 dc across, turn.
R15 to R19: same as R14.
R20: 6 dc across, (dec dc) x 2 times, turn.
R21: 8 dc across, turn.
R22 to R26: same as R21.
R27: 3 dc across, 3 hdc across, 2 sc across ( fasten off )
Repeat from R20 to R27 on the other side. ( for the other shoulder part )
Front part: ( make 2 )
R1: Ch 25, dc into 3rd chain from hook ( first 2 ch doesn’t count as the first dc ), 23 dc across, turn.
R2: 23 dc, turn.
R3 to R10: same as R2
R11: dc, dec dc, 12 dc across, (dec dc) x 2 times, turn.
R12: dc, (dec dc) x 2 times, 9 dc across, dec dc, turn.
R13: dc, dec dc, 8 dc across, dec dc, turn.
R14: 9 dc across, dec dc, turn.
R15: dc, dec dc, 7 dc across, turn.
R16: 7 dc, dec dc, turn.
R17: 8 dc across, turn.
R18 to R26: same as R17
R27: 3 dc across, 3 hdc across, 2 sc across ( fasten off )
- Seam shoulder part with sc.
- Seam body part with sc (2 sc into every dc-space).
- Sc across the neckline and button line, choose your best positions for the buttons and make chains as button loops (it depends on the size of buttons you chose, bigger buttons bigger loops). When you reach the end of the other side, turn. Ch1 and sc across again, this time sc into the chains you made (button loops), sc across (fasten off)
- Sc around armholes and hemline as borders (fasten off, weave in ends)
- Sew buttons on.
