There’s something irresistible about the free size, convertible kaftan tunic which can be a lovely beachwear or a casual layering piece that can go with your tank tops, shorts, leggings…

This crochet Sherbet kaftan top pattern is super easy, go pick your favorite yarn colors. I just went for Spring and Summer theme.

Materials: ( I used )
4.5 mm crochet hook
Light weight/DK yarn: self-striping rainbow colors ( 400 gr for the sample – size XL/ 100 gr or 393 yds per skein )

Abbreviations

Note: I used chainless starting dc for every first dc of each row/ round instead of ch 3. There’s another good crochet technique to use is ch 2, dc into same stitch ( counted as 1st dc). In the pattern below you’ll see I simply state dc into 1st stitch for every first dc of each row/round, so just choose your best technique 🙂

Special stitches used:

2dc-V stitch: ( 2dc, ch1, 2dc ) into same stitch or space.

Skill level: Easy

Gauge: 6 double crochet stitches x 3 rows approximately 1.5 inches ( with materials indicated )

Top:

( make 4 pieces )

R1: ch75, dc into 3rd ch from hook ( first 2 ch doesn’t count as 1st dc ), 2 dc across, ch1, skip 3 ch, 2dc-V stitch into next ch, ch1, skip 3 ch, *5 dc across, ch1, skip 3 ch, 2dc-V stitch into next ch, ch1, skip 3 ch* repeat ** 5 times across, 3 dc across, turn.

R2: 3 dc across, ch1, skip next ch1-space, 2dc-V stitch into next ch1-space, ch1, skip next ch1-space, *5 dc across, ch1, skip next ch1-space, 2dc-V stitch into next ch1-space, ch1, skip next ch1-space* repeat ** 5 times across, 3 dc across, turn.

R3 to R62: same as R2

• Seam shoulder lines with sc ( across R1 of 2 pieces )
• Seam front and back lines with sc ( 44 rows from the bottom up )
• Seam side lines with sc ( 44 rows from the bottom up )
