Crochet Delicate top

Crochet Delicate top

Summertime is the time for lacy and bright cover-up tops!

Consequently, I created this oversized kaftan top made of fine cotton yarn and lacy crochet stitches. A classic flattering outfit with a V-neck line and loose style to throw on.

Note: I used chainless starting dc for every first dc of each row/ round instead of ch 3. There’s another good crochet technique to use is ch 2, dc into the same stitch ( counted as 1st dc). In the pattern below you’ll see I simply state dc into 1st stitch for every first dc of each row/ round, so just choose your best technique 🙂

This crochet pattern is done by 2 identical pieces, seam to join front/ back lines and sidelines.

Special stitch used:

2dc-V stitch: ( 2dc, ch2, 2dc ) into same stitch or space

3dc shell stitch: 3dc into the same stitch or space

This crochet Delicate top pattern fits sizes M and L ( chest size: 34 to 38 inches )

Skill level: Intermediate

Gauge: 12 double crochet stitches x 5 rows approximately 2 inches ( with materials indicated )

  1. Brenda Reece says:

How do I increase this beautiful to a XL size. I really would like to make this but I just can’t fit into a large. I really need a XL-XXL.
    Thanks so much,
    Brenda

      Hi Brenda,
The easiest way to enlarge this pattern is using a larger hook ( maybe a 3.5mm crochet hook ).

  2. Sheila Croninger says:

I am definitely a size small (4’11”, 105lbs). Do you think I could carry off this medium size? I really love this pattern!!

    • Maz Kwok says:

Yes, it’s an oversized fit cover-up. However, I suggest you use a smaller size hook ( maybe 2.75 mm crochet hook ) for the M size pattern.
