This is my second crochet design of a wide-brimmed hat. ( Check out the first design here: Simple Sun Hat ). It’s made of sportweight yarn and mainly single crochet stitches so this project is quite beginner-friendly. However, with a unique hexagon-shaped brim and a touch of blue whirl texture created by drop stitches and turquoise yarn, this sun hat would please the picky ones.

Materials: ( I used )
3mm crochet hook
Sport weight yarn: turquoise color ( about 200 gr for the sample – 22 inches head circumference / 100 gr or 185 yds per skein )

Note: I used chainless starting dc for every first dc of each row/ round instead of ch 3. There’s another good crochet technique to use is ch 2, dc into same stitch ( counted as 1st dc). In the pattern below you’ll see I simply state dc into 1st stitch for every first dc of each row/ round, so choose your best technique.
Special stitches used:
Drop stitch: insert hook in next st of previous crochet row, yarn over and pull loop through, draw up a loop to height of the working row, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook.
This crochet hexagon sun hat pattern fits 22 inches head circumference ( one size fits most ).
Skill level: Easy
Gauge: 12 single crochet stitches x 14 rows = approximately 2 inches ( with materials indicated )
