Crochet Latte cardigan

A Fall theme coat designed by chevron stitches and brown shades color yarn for cooler weather. This crochet Latte cardigan is a perfect layer to throw on when you’re about to enjoy a coffee date.

4mm crochet hook
Sport weight yarn: Self-striping brown shades ( 300 gr for the sample – size XL/ 100 gr or 546 yds per skein )

Abbreviations

Note: I used chainless starting dc for every first dc of each row/round instead of ch 3. There’s another good crochet technique to use is ch 2, dc into same stitch (counted as 1st dc). In the pattern below you’ll see I simply state dc into 1st stitch for every first dc of each row/round, so just choose your best technique 🙂

Special stitch used:

2dc – V stitch: ( 2 dc, ch1, 2 dc ) into same stitch or space.

This crochet Latte cardigan pattern fits size XL ( chest size: 40 to 42 inches )

Skill level: Intermediate

Gauge: 12 double crochet stitches x 5 rows = approximately 2 inches ( with materials indicated )

 

Cardigan:

Back piece: ( work in rows )

R1:  ch 171, dc into 2nd chain from hook ( first 2 chain doesn’t count as 1st dc ), skip 1 chain, *dc into next chain, ch1, skip 1 chain, dc into next chain, ch1, skip 1 chain, 2dc-V stitch into next chain, ch1, skip 1 chain, dc into next chain, ch1, skip 1 chain, dc into next chain, skip 3 chain * repeat ** 13 times across, dc into next chain, ch1, skip 1 chain, dc into next chain, ch1, skip 1 chain, 2dc-V stitch into next chain, ch1, skip 1 chain, dc into next chain, ch1, skip 1 chain, dc into next chain, skip 1 chain, dc into last chain, turn.

R2: dc into 1st stitch, skip 1 st, dc into next ch1-space, ch1, skip 1 st, dc into next ch1-space, ch1, skip 2 sts, 2dc-V stitch into next ch1-space, ch1, skip 2 sts, dc into next ch1-space, ch1, skip 1 st, dc into next ch1-space, *skip 2 sts, dc into next ch1-space, ch1, skip 1 st, dc into next ch1-space, ch1, skip 2 sts, 2dc-V stitch into next ch1-space, ch1, skip 2 sts, dc into next ch1-space, ch1, skip 1 st, dc into next ch1-space* repeat ** 13 times across, skip 1 st, dc into last stitch, turn.

R3 to R56: same as R2 ( fasten off ).

 

Front piece: ( make 2, work in rows )

  • Seam shoulder lines with sc or sl ( 63 sts ).
  • Seam body lines with sc or sl ( leave 10 rows for armholes ).

Sleeves: ( work in rounds )

From the right side, join yarn and insert hook into the place where you made the last stitch of seaming body line.

R1: dc around, total 40 sts, sl in 1st stitch to join.

R2: fpdc around 1st stitch, bpdc around next stitch, * fpdc around next stitch, bpdc around next stitch * repeat ** around, sl in 1st stitch to join.

R3 to R15: same as R2 ( fasten off ).

 

Collar and button line part:  ( work in rows )

R1: sc across button line and neck line, untill you reach the other end, turn.

R2: dc across line and neck line, untill you reach the other end, turn.

R3 to R5: same as R2 ( fasten off ).

Weave in all ends.
