This beanie is my crochet binge-watching Netflix project. The crochet slouch hat is designed with simple post stitches and soft bamboo yarn. As a cool weather wardrobe staple, these interchangeable appliques are created to style up your casual outfits.

Materials: ( I used )
5 mm and 2.5 mm crochet hooks
Fine weight yarn: olive green ( about 100 gr for the sample – adult size/ 100 gr or 240 yds per skein )

Cotton crochet thread: burgundy, red, green.
1.4 cm bead
Yarn needle

Note: I used chainless starting dc for every first dc of each row/ round instead of ch 3. There’s another good crochet technique to use is ch 2, dc into the same stitch ( counted as 1st dc). In the pattern below you’ll see I simply state dc into 1st stitch for every first dc of each row/ round, so choose your best technique 🙂
The hat is crocheted in rounds, from the bottom up.
This crochet slouch hat with interchangeable appliques pattern fits 22 inches head circumference ( one size fits most ).
Skill level: Intermediate
Gauge: 8 double crochet stitches x 4 rows = approximately 2 inches (with 5mm crochet hook and fine-weight yarn indicated).
Hat:
( Using 5mm crochet hook and fine-weight yarn, work in rounds )
Ch 90, sl into 1st chain to form round.
R1: dc around, total 90 sts, sl in 1st stitch to join.
R2: fpdc around 1st stitch, bpdc around next stitch, * fpdc around next stitch, bpdc around next stitch * repeat ** around, sl in 1st stitch to join.
R3 to R9: same as R2
R10: fpdc around 1st stitch, ch2, skip next stitch * fpdc around next stitch, ch2, skip next stitch * repeat ** around, sl in 1st stitch to join.
R11: 2 fpdc around 1st stitch, ch1, skip next ch2-space *2 fpdc around next stitch, ch1, skip next ch2-space * repeat ** around, sl in 1st stitch to join.
R12: fpdc around 1st stitch, fpdc around next stitch, ch1, skip next ch1-space * fpdc around each of next 2 stitches, ch1, skip next ch1-space * repeat ** around, sl in 1st stitch to join.
R13: fpdc2tog around first 2 stitches, ch2, skip next ch1-space * fpdc2tog around next 2 stitches, ch2, skip next ch1-space * repeat ** around, sl in 1st stitch to join.
R14: fpdc around 1st stitch, ch2, skip next ch2-space* fpdc around next stitch, ch2, skip next ch2-space * repeat ** around, sl in 1st stitch to join.
Repeat from (R11 to R14) until you reach R34.
( fasten off, weave in ends )
From the wrong side, sew close the top ( R34 )
Appliques:
( Using 2.5 mm crochet hook and crochet thread )
Heart: ch11, sl in 1ch ch to form a loop.
R1: make 11 sc into the loop, sl in 1st st to join.
R2: (sc, dc, tr) in 1st stitch, 3 tr in next stitch, (tr, dc) in next stitch, (dc, sc) in next stitch, sc in next stitch, dc in next stitch, sc in next stitch, (sc, dc) in next stitch, (dc, tr) in next stitch, 3 tr in next stitch, (tr, dc, sc) in the last stitch (fasten off, weave in ends).
Flower: ch12, sl in 1ch ch to form a loop.
R1: make 12 sc into the loop, sl in 1st st to join.
R2: (sc, dc, tr) in 1st stitch, (tr, dc, sc) in next stitch, *(sc, dc, tr) in next stitch, (tr, dc, sc) in next stitch* repeat ** around, total 6 petals, (fasten off, weave in ends).
Leaves:
Big: ch12, sc in 2nd ch, hdc in next ch, 7 dc across, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch, ch1.
Continue at the other side, sc in the first ch, hdc in next ch, 7 dc across, hdc in next ch, sc in the last ch (fasten off).
Small: ch8, sc in 2nd ch, hdc in next ch, 3 dc across, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch, ch1.
Continue at the other side, sc in the first ch, hdc in next ch, 3 dc across, hdc in next ch, sc in the last ch (fasten off).
Weave in ends. Attach leaves at the back of the flower.
